An AP Exam basically measures the achievement you would have in a college-level course and it can be used for recommendations for colleges. I took the US History Exam this past spring in Madison and was the only freshman. Normally, freshmen don't take the AP Exams unless they're trying to test out of Biology and for my exam, there were only 14 other people there. The grading system is from 1 to 5; 1 being no recommendation, 2 being possibly qualified, 3 being qualified, 4 being well qualified, and 5 being extremly well qualified.
I didn't do as well on the test as I had hoped. I only scored a 2 and they don't let you see the actual test after it has been graded so I have no idea what I did wrong. It's kind of depressing.
Perk up! AP tests are graded by the stack by random folks who come from all different backgrounds and levels. I've known a few who said that after grading the 100th test, their eyes would cross and they'd starting skimming over sections. And say you got someone on a bad day and they didn't like your handwriting or they came from a different historical perspective? Don't feel too bad.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that a good many colleges don't even take AP credits. They'll still make you take their core requirements. I know from personal experience! I busted my butt in my AP classes and got 4's and 5's on my exams and when I got to college they still made me take what they thought I should and I still had to pay for it too!
